Blood Profile Results Are In

Last week I shared with everyone that I was heading to get a blood profile done.  In May of last year was when I had my last one done and my potassium was high, cholesterol was flagged and triglycerides were up a little, and my iron was too low.  At this time the only exercise I was doing was walking but my diet wasn't all that bad.  Also at this point I was give heart meds in April 2012, had been on blood pressure meds for a few months and prior to that was even on anti-depressants.  All this was a wake up call for me and that's when I started my journey to a healthier lifestyle not only for myself but for my children.

When I started walking my weight was at it's highest of 163.  This was a lot for me since I am only 5'5.  When I got super serious about my weight mid-August (so about a year ago) my weight was going between 147-149.

To show a difference.  This first picture was 160. It was around a month after I started working on getting healthy.  The second one was taken today right after my workout (if that wasn't noticeable)

I wish I had the exact numbers from blood profile that was done a little over a year ago but I haven't actually got around to calling the doctor yet to request them fax me a copy.  I am curious though so I will probably end up doing that in the next couple of days.   I seriously owe these numbers to Shakeology and working out.  My first round of blood work that was bad last year I had been working out for awhile already.  So I really believe that the combination of my workouts and getting the amazing nutrition that Shakeology has to offer has helped me tremendously.

Anyway, here are just a few of the numbers from my blood work. These are the things that I like keeping in check.

Triglycerides:  56
(level needs to be between 0-149)
Iron: 82
(level needs to be between 35-155)
Total Cholesterol: 121
(needs to be between 100-199)
HDL Cholesterol: 58
(needs to be between 39.01-100)
LDL Cholesterol: 52
(needs to be between 0-99)
Glucose: 86
(needs to be between 65-99)
Potassium: 3.9
(needs to be between 3.5-5.2)

This is me in all my glory to show what a difference a healthy diet and exercise can make in roughly a year. When the first picture was taken I was around 148-149.  Like I said I originally started this journey at 163. The first picture was me in July 2012 and the second one was actually taken today.

Am I proud of how far I have came in a year? You better believe it! I still have a ways to go in order to reach my ultimate goals, but I just keep looking forward.  Sure I have bad days, don't we all?  No need in dwelling on those, just pick up the next day where you left off.  Hard work and determination does pay off!

  1. Goodness... Congrats on your amazing hard work! I am currently working my way down although I have much farther than you to go as I am only 5'6" and I weigh 236 right now. My only goal is to get under 200 again. I will pick a new goal after that lol

    1. That's awesome and I am a firm believer in setting small goals. If I can do this, anyone can. Just keep looking forward and setting those small goals. Remember to give yourself a little reward as you reach them :)
